A New Start?

Well things have taken a bit of a turn in our bid to get out of Los Angeles and potentially California all together. We have been living in our travel trailer for the past year in s spot that not only didn't cost us anything, but in exchange for the security our presence added, we had water and electrical hookups at no cost. However someone in the neighborhood complained to teh city and we were told we had to leave. Our only real choice was to store the trailer and move in with my wife's parents. It is of course an adjustment for all involved, but thus far it hasn't been that bad. With the size of the house, we have our own areas and basically share the kitchen.

It became apparent with the hours I have been working, we're on a slow boat to nowhere. The past two weeks have been under 20 hours and this one barely broke 10. For the first time in our marriage it became apparent that my wife was going to find work as well. I decided that even if it meant a cut in pay but more hours, I needed to find something else (or in addition to) as well. I decided to go apply at Knotts Berry Farm and my wife decided to join me. Of course, she was the one that got a second interview and was offered a job. Two days later though, I re-applied for a different position and was also given that second interview and offered a position. We are both waiting for them to complete the required background checks and will start the orientation training. The rub is my position is considered seasonal and officially ends the second week in November, but has a good chance depending on performance to become a permanent spot.

Between the two at Knotts and my part time at the current spot, We should be able to reach the goals we still need to sit down and set......

How do we get out?

This is going to be a blog of our trials getting out of Los Angeles, California, and become as self sufficient as possible. This will include getting off the grid and building a place to live.
